The Big Read: Sourdough Songs with Brad Keeler and Linda Parnam
Accounts from the Klondikers, sourdoughs, and stampeders themselves reflect the popularity of well-known songs from the 19th century from composers like Stephen Foster, as well as the large body of fiddle and dance music that form one branch of the American folk music tradition.

Brad and Linda will be sharing ballads and tunes from the Klondike Gold Rush days (and a few modern songs inspired by the time), along with some commentary.

The Big Read: An Evening with Jack London

Location: CenterPlace, 2426 N. Discovery Place, Spokane Valley

In this dynamic portrayal, actor and scholar Michael Oakes tells the greatest story Jack London ever wrote; his own life. From the age of nine, London toiled as a "wage-slave" factory worker, oyster pirate, sailor, writer, and rancher. In his 40 short years, London roamed the globe from the Klondike to the South Seas, and Asia. He twice ran for mayor of Oakland, and was recruited as a presidential candidate.
