Bird Watching and Hiking to Big Rock 7/27/2016 7:00:00 AM
Bird Watching and Hiking to Big Rock
Location: Stevens Creek TrailHead, 9002 S Stevens Creek Rd

Come to Stevens Creek for an early morning hike and see and hear some birds. Stevens Creek is home to approximately 50 species of breeding birds and exactly 113 species (and counting) have been documented here during all seasons of the year. The local specialties are neotropical migrant breeding songbirds (i.e., little birds that fly very far South for the w inter), including Hummingbirds, Flycatchers, Vireos, and Warblers. It's one of the best places in the Spokane region to hear singing birds in May and June. Though late July is not the peak season for singing or migrating birds, most breeding birds are still around and we may even see some feeding young or teaching little ones how to fly. And if the birds are quiet, it's still a fantastic hike!

Hike is free and open to the public, but please register at https://dhnaa.wildapricot.org/event-2279066.
